DR. EARL DOUGLAS: The scope of services that we offer at ADS South is fairly simple and limited. It’s helping people transition their practice through a sale or an associateship or an equity associateship. We also help buyers locate practices and purchase them. We take them through the steps of negotiations, financing, contracts. We also follow up with buyers. We want to make sure that they are successful, because my reputation and my business rest on the success of the buyer. Therefore we monitor their monthly progress for a year, for longer at their request, to make sure that their numbers are hitting where they should be and the projections are accurate. And one other sideline is I’m a business evaluator, accredited in litigation by the Institute of Business Appraisers, and what that means is I’ve been qualified as an expert witness in many state courts in the Southeast to testify as to practice value.

Initially, we had offered more and varied services as professional practice consultants, but we have narrowed our scope down considerably. I compare it to looking through a straw in our business. We don’t want to be the widest; we want to be the deepest. We want to be the best at what we are, and respect that other people are the best at what they are, and refer our clients to those people for services outside of our realm. So it’s basically our attempt to be just the best in the country at what we do.
